Abstract

This is 'Pan Wales': http://panwalescymru.wordpress.com , a creative practical project and the main product of my M.A. in Aberystwyth University's Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies. This piece of work of up to 10,000 words will correspond to the written half of the project. Please see  the digital creation on the internet for the practical half, which is the essence of this work.  

Prif amcan yr ymchwil yw asesu effeithiolrwydd y cyfryngau arlein o ran lledu a hybu diwylliant a thraddodiadau cerddorol Cymru.  Partner y prosiect oedd cwmni teledu Telesgop yn Abertawe.

The main objective of the research is to assess the effectiveness of the online media in spreading and promoting the culture and musical traditions of Wales.  The project partner was the Telesgop television company who are based in Swansea. 

Trwy ddefnyddio cysyniadau megis The Long Tail Chris Anderson (2004) ac archwilio ystyr ehangach ceidwaid pyrth, gallwn ddadansoddi sut mae prosiect ‘Pan Cymru’ yn cyflwyno ystod eang o ddeunydd amlgyfryngol er mwyn hybu traddodiadau cerddorol Cymraeg arlein mewn modd effeithiol, ac wedi codi'r diddordeb, darpariaeth a deunydd o gerddoriaeth gwerin ar y we.

By using concepts such as Chris Anderson's The Long Tail (2004) and exploring the wider meaning of gatekeepers, we can analyse how the 'Pan Wales' project presents a wide range of multimedia material in order to promote Welsh musical traditions online in an effective way, and has raised the interest, provision and folk music material available on the web.  

Mae ‘Pan Cymru’ yn blatfform aml-gyfrwng i ddenu, meithrin a hybu cerddorion Cymraeg traddodiadol ac sy’n creu, recordio, darlledu a hybu cyfres o berfformiadau byw o’r sîn werin gyfoes Gymreig.

'Pan Wales' is a multi-media platform to attract, nurture and promote traditional Welsh music that created, recorded, broadcasted and promoted a series of live performances from the contemporary Welsh folk scene.
